One of his Ribs

For man is not from woman, but woman from man.

(1 Corinthians 11:8) NKJV

Man, Adam, was the most sophisticated and complex of all of the forms created on land on the 6th day, however, he was a directionless, unmotivated slacker. God knew that it was going to take a special someone to motivate him to get off his butt and subdue the Earth.

People have been fumbling the rib thing for ever. On the face of it it doesn’t make any sense at all. It’s one reason why enlightened intellectuals heap scorn on the Bible.

Women were created directly from their heavenly progenitor. The reason why God had to take a rib from Adam was because the woman was so vastly different from man that God needed a sample to ensure biological compatibility. But what was the rib, really? A bone from the chest? Is that the only possibility?

Of his ribs: מִצַּלְעֹתָ֔יו – mitztzalotav

  • Rib, side,
  • from an unused word,
  • beam, board, chamber, corner, leaf, plank, rib, side chamber,
    1. rib of man.
    2. rib of hill, i.e. ridge, or terrace.
    3. side-chambers or cells (enclosing temple like ribs) so of Ezekiel’s temple.
    4. ribs of cedar and fir, i.e. planks, boards, of temple wall, floor.
    5. leaves of door.
    6. side, of ark.

Is there enough meaning here for us to conclude that the rib is actually a chromosome? After all, that’s what would be necessary to ensure biological compatibility. Yes, there is, we can see an application of Hypothesis 22.

In this case the meaning that we need relates the beams arching overhead in the roof of a cathedral to the arrangement of chromosomes during the process of cell division, mitosis. Do you even science?

Wells Cathedral and mitosis anaphase.
