The Mind Of Christ

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

( 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 )

Can we take a systematic approach to the Bible and come to know the mind of Christ? Some things are spiritually discerned, but if we who are spiritual take a systematic approach, what may we find?

We are going to construct a spherogenetic classification of living organisms in the Bible so we have to be very clear about a few things.

  1. It is not phylogenetic (based on ancestry and descent),
  2. It is based on the development of forms as an expression of the thought process of God the creator,
  3. It is based on the sequence of steps outlined in Genesis 1 as the six days of creation,
  4. It took place across several spheres of life: the atmosphere, biosphere, firmasphere and hydrosphere.

In Matty’s Paradigm biological life, based on cellular construction and containing DNA, was created on the 1st day. This was a zero gravity environment. The kinds of life forms created are preserved in some Precambrian strata. In science they are assigned to the Ediacaran period.

Precambrian sediment was deposited on the 2nd day in response to the creation of gravity. This simple explanation for the events of the 1st and 2nd days is derived using deductive reasoning to reconcile the Bible with physical evidence. The 1st day is discussed in the daily devotional for January, the 2nd day is discussed in the daily devotional for February. Biological life at this early stage of development is not considered to be Biblical life. In the Bible living beings are animated by a spirit, which is to say they breath the air. They also are aware of their environment, are independently mobile and have to make decisions – they are sentient. Plants aren’t sentient.

The development of life was spherogenetic, being based on the firmasphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere. However this omits the 1st day of creation which wasn’t a sphere because it was formless. As such we have to start with the body of water called “the deep,” and designate it as the hydromorpha. On the 1st day we can be sure that the division of life into Prokayotes and Eukaryotes is well established as the basis for further development.

Biological taxa which were present at the end of the first day.

There is physical evidence of each of these groups in what we consider to be Precambrian sediment, therefore they predate the creation of gravity. The next major burst of development of biological diversity was on the 3rd day when God covered the dry ground with vegetation. The dry ground is what we refer to as the biosphere.

Biological taxa present in the biosphere at the end of the third day.

This is what the Bible tells us was created on the 3rd day: trees, herbs and grasses. The green algae serve as the most likely progenitor of terrestrial plants. However, this is not a tree of evolutionary relationships, since evolution will not start until the fall of man, they are conceptual relationships.

The next phase of the development of life was in the firmasphere on the 4th day. We don’t have much to go on, but we do have a place to start. We are assuming that heavenly beings are based on Eukaryotic cells as opposed to something completely different and unknown. This assumption is not unwarranted since life developed in the hydromorpha which was before the heavens and the earth were separated.

There are, however, different classes of heavenly beings. The creatures described in the visions of Isaiah, Ezekiel and John are easily identifiable as eukaryotic, but what about the sun or other gravitationally bound entities like Galaxies? We simply don’t know. We have to be willing to learn something completely new and different when the Lord explains all this to us one day.

Spherogenetic Systematics of the Firmasphere on the 4th Day

We are going to use the Cherubim as a case study of the benefit of using spherogenetic systematics as a deductive tool. The Cherubim as seen by Ezekiel each had the face of an Ox, Lion, Eagle and man. It is not a big leap to take each of these facial features as the basis for a subsequent group, especially when these are recorded as being present in heaven.

And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

( Revelation 4:6-8 )

Cherubim have mostly mammalian features, some avian, so we can deduce that the wings of these creatures were feathered, like an eagle:

The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings:

( Daniel 7:4 )

This leads us to an understanding of the Cherubim and their conceptual descendants which we will build on. We know of a class of organisms called the Serpents, which includes dragons and Seraphim, and we know that God created them as part of the host of heaven. This gives us a starting point from which to consider the next steps when God created the fish of the sea and the fowls of the air on the 5th day.

We previously deduced that heavenly entities like the sun are sentient. We may need to consider that the sun and other gravitationally bound entities are life forms.

Let’s ponder that.
