The Wisdom Of Their Wise Men Shall Perish

Isaiah 29:13-16

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

If you’re paying attention then you probably have realized by now that the work that I am calling Matty’s Paradigm is a Bible-based frontal assault on the theoretical foundation of modern science. As ludicrous as this may sound I believe that there is actually a Biblical precedent to do this. I see a parallel between the passage that I chose for today and the times in which we live. For many years, in fact, since 1999 when I first went to work as a Church Custodian, I have been dismayed by the state of our churches. Let me give you a little more context so that you’ll see where I’m coming from.

I was raised Christian and surrounded by the wonderful and kind people of Christianity, but I secretly hated it and wanted to break free. When I got the chance I did just that, and I went off to University to study anything I could find that would help me to understand how the theory of evolution could be the antidote to God. Here is a summary of my own testimony as a series of logic statements:

  • IF (I was learning to reason) the human race can be shown to have evolved from primitive ancestors,
  • THEN it wasn’t created as the Bible says.

  • IF the creation of the human race part of the Bible is not true,
  • THEN how can we know if anything else in the Bible is true either?

  • IF none of the Bible is true,
  • THEN there is no God.

  • IF there is no God
  • THEN I can live however I want because there is no judgment for sin.

  • IF there is no sin,
  • THEN I can live an immoral life with no guilt.

Tragically, this didn’t work out according to the logic, and I still had crushing guilt for all of my unconfessed sin. This, as it turns out, is the plight of all humanity.

I got saved when I put my faith in Jesus Christ in July 1997. I was all alone and I had no support of a kind that could help me to understand what had happened and how to begin to grow spiritually. During 1998 I read the Bible for the first time and I was both delighted by what I learned about God and history, and disgusted at the deeds of the people who are recorded in it. My zeal for the Lord was kindled and as a way to demonstrate this I took a job as the Custodian of a large Church. This is when I discovered how far the Church has compromised with science and the progressive movement. It became clear that very few churches were left that had people who could help me, and I nearly gave up looking.

To make a long story short, this is the “Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth…” part of our passage that is a parallel with the modern world. The Church talks the talk, but it doesn’t walk the walk. For the most part they don’t believe any of the Bible, except perhaps the miracles of Christ. Hardly any churches have a Pastor who will authoritatively say that hell is a physical place. It’s pathetic.

So what to do about this? The only thing to do is to cause the wisdom of the wise to perish. If churches won’t warn people about hell because they think that science has disproved hell, then we are just going to have to disprove science. It’s very simple really. If God doesn’t lie, then the Bible is true. If the Bible is true, then there is a hell. If science says that there is no hell, then science is wrong.

This has meant meticulously picking through the theoretical foundation of science to find out just where the errors in science lie. I will be expanding on this much more in April when we study out the fourth day of creation, but it has meant isolating and neutralizing the key individuals responsible for the work that is used in the theoretical foundation of modern science. This is what you might call, the usual suspects, but I have singled out Galileo Galilei, Johannes Kepler and Sir Isaac Newton.

“for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.” I did not just make that up folks.
