God Does Not Lie

December 25, 2015

The premise from which my work has grown is that, if there was no death before sin, then evolution (the origin of species) is impossible.

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (Romans 5:12)

This premise is however founded on the fundamental belief that God does not lie, His Word is true.

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19)

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;. (2Titus 1:2)

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. (James 1:18)

Is your imaginary friend omnipotent? How can he be if the simple act of lying is beyond his capabilities? Furthermore, why should we trust that verse? It also says he does not repent, but Jonah and Exodus say otherwise. Furthermore, the bible itself shows evidence of this god character veing dishonest: his threat to Adam is not that the fruit will make him die in nine hundred years, not that he will “die a spiritual death,” as some apologists with an iota more intelligence (which is admittedly still not all that much) than you have claimed; nope, it’s pretty clearly framed as “you eat the fruit and it will kill you.”

Plus, let’s not forget the whole “spirit of delusion” bit where he made his prophets lie.

If you believe non-believers because you don’t want to believe, that’s circular reasoning.
